why mates in inverted commas? Are you suggesting barstoolers are incapable of possessing genuine friends?

Latics put in the sort of performance on Saturday at home as Rovers did away to Ekranas. Any pre-season optimism has vanished completely.

Wasn't sure where to post this. I know there was a barstooler thread a while back but couldn't find it. Anyway lifted this from a boards.ie thread about who people think is the biggest tosser they've ever met. This chap had posted about Mick Lowes, some BBC Newcastle commentator. I pissed myself laughing when I read it....

Mick Lowes. He's a commentator for BBC Radio Newcastle. Does all the Newcastle games home and away and thinks he's more famous than he actually is.

Was over in Newcastle a fair bit last season and met him in one of the bars. Shouting at the bar staff to serve him before the "ordinary punters".

Was sitting near enough to him and ordered a pint.

"You're Irish are you", this overweight drunken lout asked me.

"I am indeed pal", I replied.

"Over for the game are you?", he asked.

"Yeah. Was great. Really enjoyed it", I answered.

"Been over here much", he enquired.

"This is my fifth time and have tickets booked for the game against Sunderland in two weeks", I told him.

"Ah yeah, well you should give your ticket to a real fan you plastic prick"

    What an absolute cúnt.

The irony is, he probably wanted a "plastic" Arab/Yank prick to come in and save his club from "real" fan Mike Ashley not so long ago.

Liverpool, Glasgow and Newcastle are the 3 places in the UK where you are almost guaranteed to see FKWs. I saw a family of 4 in full Newcastle gear in Asda in Gateshead once. I

am trying to think of a reason for the correlation of this phenomenon with formerly wealthy ports fallen on hard times. Perhaps one of the forum sociologists can help out.
    And remember, keep on hooping!

Pretty dismal looking away support for QPR today for a Premiership club unless they're all upstairs.......

    Classic!

Slightly different as at least he was a player but I've a distant memory of reading about the current Celtic manager wearing his full Norn-Iron away kit while on holidays during his summer break in Spain during his playing days with Leicester.
The game's out there, and it's play or get played. That simple.

Had the pleasure of playing the inmates football team in Arbour Hill Prison a couple of times ( with a team of social workers ) and ironically they play their matches in full Newcastle kits.
They must be doing some Toon Time in there.

To be fair I think they may have had a few sections in the upper tier as well, not sure though.
