NP, i htink every generation is susceptible to the rose tinted "back in my day" argument.

having watched replays/reruns of old football ,ie italia 90 and further back, it struck me as how much slower and boring football could be*, teams killing games off with constant back passes to the keepr for example.

(*im well aware slower doesnt necessarily mean boring)

Even looking at the rubbish the Brazil 1970 team could come up with...

Also an engaging interview on their SwitchHit podcast with the Cricket Ireland CEO about the World Cup/associate nations..

    All a matter of taste.

Look at the game we love...ffs how many good games have you seen on the box in the last 4 or 5 years?

I doubt I d have fallen in love with football if, back then , it was the game it is now.
I know its a matter of taste but still just cant see how anyone could get into this nonsense, so boring and goes on for ages too. Such a bad bad sport!

Couldnt agree more with your last comment, like I said in another thread recently football overall is at an all time low for me. Watching football isnt near as enjoyable for me now as it was about 10 years or so ago. Now I struggle to watch the majority of matches without a bet on it

    Bangladesh 49/0 after 5 Overs

First wicket: 53/1 after 7 Overs

Second Wicket: 61/2 Getting a grip now and quietening the crowd down after loads of early Fours off Trent Johnston's bowling.

68/3 11 Overs gone. Great catch from William Porterfield, Iqbal walks.

Reckon we'll need to get them all out(ideally below 235) if we're to win, 240+ I can't see us winning. Flirting around six per over so far.
I wanted to ask you Floyd if you don't mind. In my last fight before I knocked out George Groves at Wembley Stadium in front of 80,000 fans, I worked a lot on power. So I did a lot of swimming, and I chopped down a few trees myself, and then I held my feet and then I knocked him out. And I'm not known as a one punch knock-out man. Have you been doing that yourself a little bit? Working on power?

86/3 after 15, and a dropped catch from Porterfield just gone.

    86/4 c&b Botha.

Halfway through the bowling, 112/4. Runs lost are slowing down, but we need a couple more wickets before the fielders get sent all over the pitch chasing shadows in the last 10 overs.

147/5 17 Overs left to Bowl. Dockrell the wicket taker this time. Probably looking at chasing 240-ish later.

Dockrell again. Ashraful gone. 36 Overs 151/6

159/7. Second Runout of the innings. 12 Overs remaining. 3 Wickets to find.

170/8 Another lbw wicket for Botha.

Dockrell finishes with 2 Wickets from 10 Overs for just 23 runs.

Other News: Australia beat NZ by 7 Wickets.

Unbelievable bowling performance from Georgie Dockrell. Everyone knew he has a serious future ahead of him but if he keeps this up he will be playing in the IPL later this year.

A target of anything under 220 will be something I think they could attack quite well but the pressure is on the experienced lads to keep a few partnerships going in there. Hopefully Joyce, Porterfield and the O'Briens have a good day with the bat.

As for Whisper not liking the game....more a case of not understanding it I would think. If you understood it you might learn to appreciate the skills and tactics involved.

5 Overs left to bowl. 179/8. Run Rate at the start was 9-10 rpo, now it's less than 4.

Well done to the bowlers if they can finish it off. Hope the batsmen can follow it up now

193/9 b Johnston Two Overs to go. One wicket overturned on video replay as well.

2 Maidens in Dockrell's figures also. By contrast Boyd Rankin's conceding wides and runs for fun.#

Chasing 206. Gettable, but our weakness is batting. We only got 200 twice in the last WC. Have to survive the first 5 Overs without losing wickets.

Rankin, 62 Runs lost for 0 Wickets from 9 Overs. Disaster for him.

Very chaseable, good total to chase, Rankin was costly.

Bangladesh all out for 205, up to the batsmen now to chase down a very gettable total.

    6 hours ahead.

Porterfield and Stirling to begin the chase. 5/0, Wide first ball, with the full 300 allocated balls left.

19/0 after 5 Overs. Porterfield with most of the runs and 1 Boundary.

Very very hostile out there. Place is packed and it's almost 100% home support to face.

23/1. Stumping, fuck it. Ed Joyce in next.

I have no idea what that means.

    Are we losing?
